Research Associate


The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-directed, willing to learn, able to multi-task, and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.


  • Execution, optimization and troubleshooting of preestablished experimental designs
  • Expression and purification of recombinant proteins from various cell types (bacterial, yeast, insect, mammalian)
  • Characterization of biological molecules using analytical and biochemical assays
  • Performance of a wide variety of standard molecular and cell biology techniques, including protein binding assays, cell-based assays and cell culture
  • Partnering with our R&D groups to maintain and expand our de novo protein portfolio
  • Assisting with laboratory setup and maintenance duties
  • Organization and documentation of methods and results


  • BS, MS (or PhD) in biological sciences (Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology or a related field)
  • 1-5 years industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience in bacteria and yeast culture and sterile techniques
  • Experience performing SDS-PAGE required
  • General knowledge of Molecular Biology, including SDS-PAGE, Western blots and ELISA
  • Experience in protein chemistry, molecular biology, and/or analytical biochemistry
  • Experience with protein expression and purification techniques in microbial and mammalian systems is a plus
  • Experience with small to medium scale production, including bioreactor systems, and recombinant protein manufacture is a plus
  • Ability to problem solve and identify work to be done pro-actively
  • Attention to detail and strong work ethic
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highest level of integrity
